First time getting a massage? Here are 5 things you need to know.

Communicate openly with your massage therapist to get the most out of your session.

New to massage?

Whether you are a frequent visitor to a massage therapist or this is your first time, here are five tips that can help you feel at ease.

  1. Massage therapists are trained professionals – They are here to help you relax, focus on muscle tension and relief from stress. If you prefer a lighter massage or a firmer, deep tissue one, your input is welcome and encouraged.

  2. Your comfort is important – Many first time guests are uncomfortable going without certain clothes. Wearing a shirt during a massage is perfectly acceptable, so feel free to share what would make it the most relaxing experience for you. Wearing of shorts or any loose comfortable clothing is acceptable for the modest.

  3. Self-conscious about your weight - Massage therapists welcome the opportunity to heal all body types. TOMORROWS massage therapist Sherri explains, "I focus on clients' problem muscles and how best to treat them. There is no need to for embarrassment about any body part.” – Sherri

  4. Don't be concerned about your body hair – While we may put pressure on ourselves to be hair-free on our legs, armpits, chest, or back, a massage therapist is not focused on body hair. The goal and desire is to heal and alleviate all pain and muscle tension so that you leave feeling renewed and refreshed. Read more →

  5. Ask questions – Many guests wonder what they should eat before a massage, if they can exercise after, or drink coffee. A massage therapist welcomes and appreciates thoughtful questions and wants to ensure that you have the most enjoyable experience before, during and after the massage.

If you've never had a massage before, you're in for a treat! Our therapists are ready to give you a great experience.
